Organization

Organizational strategies, structures, programs, and processes often operate 'in the red'. Group or Team

Hackman (1990) called the paradigm from which most teams operate a “framework of givens”. This is to say that teams spontaneously and tacitly devise their modus operandi within the first few moments of coming together. It will not surprise you that approaching groupwork in this fashion is very likely to negatively impact the group’s capacity, potential, and the well-being and development of its members. Whether your team is at the startup stage, growing or changing, seeking even higher performance, adjusting to virtual or hybrid work, or looking to engage in group processes like strategic planning, goal setting, group/team coaching, or retrospectives, Archetype can help your team perceive its challenges, opportunities, and performance through new lenses, and craft approaches to its critical tasks that provide the structure, setting, support, and strategies that will make full use of the skill and will of its members.

Individual

Our workplaces routinely serve up challenges that invite us to reflect, perhaps on our self-images, maybe on our taken-for-granted assumptions, possibly to see our own and others’ current and past behaviours from new perspectives. We’re also afforded openings to figure out how to manage ourselves, our teams, and our organizations more effectively. However, many internal and external barriers can keep us away from engaging in critical reflection, building self-awareness, changing our perspective, and developing the skills with which we could meet the demands and opportunities of our professional lives. Archetype Founder and principal

Tyler is a highly skilled and dedicated consultant with over 20 years of experience helping clients achieve results in the areas of leadership, learning, talent, and organizational development. Before founding Archetype Consulting in 2022, he worked with a diverse range of clients, including UBC, Bron Studios, Service Canada, Beedie Development, VanCity, Ford of Canada, BDC, and many others while serving as a partner at Kwela Leadership, principal at WestGate, and associate at other leading Canadian firms.

As an active member of the BC L&D and OD communities, Tyler has served on the board of the International Coach Federation, mentored students in the Royal Roads Certificate in Executive Coaching program, and been a guest speaker at the Sauder School of Business. He also regularly attends and presents at local leadership, learning, and OD events. Tyler has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Lakehead University, Philosophy, Occupational Ethics), a Bachelor of Education degree (UBC), a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching (Royal Roads University), and a Master of Education degree (UBC) focused on adult learning and global change.
